Using Your Attic Space Better

Despite the fact that each home I’ve ever lived in has had one, I have never really been in an attic. I find this type of odd. I mean, it’s like I refused to enter one, fearing I would be struck by an unwelcoming family of bats or, worse, a rabid Christmas tree sick and tired of being locked up twenty five months at one time. I just have had no reason to take that upward journey.

I’m sure I am not alone: there are undoubtedly many people who have never looked to see what’s beyond the attic door. A lot of us just grew up with no need to look; we grew up in a world where a loft meant one thing: storage.

However, in this day and age, attics aren’t just for storage any longer, make sure you remove any squirrel poop before renovating!!. With house renovations, larger crawl spaces, and real estate prices soaring, attics are being looked at less as a room filled with cobwebs, and more as a room full of opportunities.

Though it was, at a term, far outside, it was also literary. Nonetheless, the idea is molded in Window, Chair, Attic, Home, Oldfact: some houses, especially older ones, have attics that can fairly easily be turned into a bedroom. They will not be made up of four walls of the exact same size – finally having corners and structures unlike any additional bedroom – but loft bedrooms can supply a unique, private, and comfortable location. The originality of the space may even be particularly appealing for those who don’t like conformity (i.e. teenagers).

Build A Play Loft: Inside my childhood house, the attic doorway was in my own bedroom. This bothered me for two reasons: my room was cold and I often lay awake at night in fear which, by the other side of the attic door, could come knocking. Although my imagination played a part in this distress, nobody, children especially, really wants the loft door in their room. However, if the loft door contributed to a place fun, rather than a feeding ground for ghosts, spiders, and – sometimes – a sinister squirrel, this wouldn’t be a problem.

For new homes, houses that only have small crawl space-like attics rather than big ones, the attic can be turned into a play room, or rather, a play loft. Using the ladder they can simply climb up to their play area, permitting them to escape from reality, and, of course, their actions.

Turn into a Home Office: For attics which aren’t quite big enough to function as bedrooms, but not small enough, or in the perfect location, to be play lofts, placing in a house office may be the perfect match. Anyone who has worked at home, particularly in a home with kids, understands that a home office can get hectic: with all of the distractions and noise, how can anybody get anything done?

However, the attic pulls the term “home office” from the verge of being tagged an oxymoron: attics provide more privacy, additional piece and quiet, and less possibility that the highly organized documents will be cluttered by an intrusive hand, compared to any other room in the house.
